ASCIIMATTER
Live ASCII motion graphics, built and exported entirely in the browser. A generative tool that turns 3D, text and fields into animated ASCII you can export.
Most pictures are pixels pretending to be objects. ASCIIMATTER runs the other way: it takes geometry, text and weather and resolves them into characters, so the picture is made of type. A single-file web app that installs as a PWA and renders live in the browser. One loop: patch the sources, move them, set the look, export.
Patch the sources
Feeds mix on a socket grid instead of flattening, so a lone model and a full storm run at once.
- 3D primitives, imported
.objand glTF models, live text, parametric shapes - Field generators: rain, storm, wind, turbulence, vortex
- Grid or free layout, with radial symmetry
Shape and move
Everything tumbles in full 3D over a physics layer, so a scene can drift, swarm or collapse and still hold together.
- Spin and orbit on any axis
- Gravity, cohesion, viscosity, flow and melt
- Detonate, scatter or freeze on a gesture, or recall a preset
Look, color and export
Color is first-class, not a filter: pick a monospace face, then ramp, dither, glow and weight, recolored live through your own palettes, from mono to neon.
- Seamless ping-pong loops
- Export to video, PNG with alpha, 4K and SVG
- Save scenes as presets, or randomize
